IMHO Reviews Coursera Article Shares Latest Online Learning Platform Updates

Aventura, Florida -

Online learning has been on the rise in recent years, especially since the beginning of the pandemic. More people chose to take courses online due to the flexibility and affordable cost that they offer compared to traditional education. In their new article, IMHO Reviews shares the latest information about a popular online learning platform Coursera, and discusses whether it can help learners to advance in their careers.

Coursera Updates By IMHO Reviews

Coursera was founded in 2012 by Stanford professors and now offers over 7,000 courses, Guided Projects, Specializations, Professional Certificates, and Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in partnership with more than 250 of the world's top universities and companies, including Stanford, Yale, UPenn, Google, Facebook, IBM, and Amazon.

"These days, there are dozens of online learning platforms, and choosing the one can be quite challenging. What makes Coursera stand out among most of its competitors is the high quality of courses that they offer and their degree programs that cost much less than what you would have paid for the same on-campus programs," said Vitaliy Lano, the owner of IMHO Reviews.

The IMHO Reviews article mentions that Coursera offers courses in a variety of subjects, and the catalog is divided into eleven categories: Arts and Humanities, Language Learning, Data Science, Health, Business, Computer Science, Personal Development, Information Technology, Math and Logic, Social Sciences, and Physical Science and Engineering. There are over 2,000 free courses in the catalog that anyone can take, but if students want to gain full access to course materials including assignments, and earn a Certificate, they will have to pay a fee.

Coursera Review Online Learning platform Is it WOrth it

"You can audit many of Coursera courses for free, which is a great option, or sign up for a 7-day free trial to explore the platform before becoming a paying member. Coursera courses start at only $39, but you would get a much better value for your money if you sign up for a Coursera Plus membership which costs $399 per year or $33,25 per month," said Vitaliy.

Coursera Plus is a subscription plan that offers members unlimited access to over 90% of all courses on Coursera excluding MasterTrack Certificates and degree programs. Learners can earn a Certificate for every course they pass and complete; Coursera Plus offers three pricing models - Single Learning Program that includes access to all courses within a certain learning program and costs $49 - $79 a month, and Coursera Plus Monthly and Annual that both include unlimited access to all courses and cost $59 a month and $399 per year each.

"Another thing that attracts people to Coursera is its Course Certificates. Although some may argue that they don't have a lot of value since most short courses on Coursera are not accredited, I still think that adding them to your resume could boost your job profile. Of course, it's skills and knowledge that matter but having an Ivy League Certificate on your resume certainly won't hurt," added Vitaliy.

The article compares Coursera with three other online learning platforms - LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, and edX. Udemy is said to have more courses in the catalog, but they are not structured as well, and their Certificates are not issued by the same big-name universities as Coursera's, and, therefore, are not as valuable. edX seems to be very similar to Coursera as it also offers both online courses and degree programs, but it is more expensive and has fewer subjects being offered. LinkedIn Learning has more paid courses than Coursera but fewer free ones, and, according to the article, often lacks quality.

"Coursers and edX are my top choices when it comes to MOOC platforms and online degree programs. Both offer Certificates from the world's best universities and have a variety of courses to choose from. Coursera is slightly cheaper than edX but both offer great value for the money," explained Vitaliy.
